“When Mount Tambora, a volcano in Indonesia exploded in the 1800s, the ash covered fields, crops failed, a massive famine followed where horses and other animals could not be fed. It eventually led to the invention of the bicycle. We have to understand history,” says director Kamalakannan as he talks about his new film Kurangu Pedal. The film is one of the three Tamil movies selected for the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.

Chennai, Oct 26 (SocialNews.XYZ) Noted music director Ghibran said on Wednesday that director Kamalakannan's film 'Kurangu Pedal', which is one of the three Tamil movies to be selected for the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa from November 20-28, will go down in history as one of the greatest works of art.

Kurangu Pedal captures a child's interest in learning to ride a bicycle while the father doesn’t know to ride a cycle. “The story kept on lingering in my mind as cycle was the one of the most intriguing things in my childhood. Learning to ride a cycle gives one a confidence, that pushed me to make a movie”, said Kamalakannan, director of the movie.
